Archaeological Circuit of Vale Fuzeiros

  

This activity consists in the realization of a pedestrian route in order to observe several vestiges of human occupation from Prehistory, such as the menhirs of the Neolithic period and the necropolises of the Visigoth period.

The Archaeological Circuit of Vilarinha - Vale Fuzeiros is located in the parish of São Bartolomeu de Messines, municipality of Silves.

- Necropolis of Pedreirinha

- Alignment of Vilarinha

- Necropolis of Carrasqueira

Castelejo Environmental Trail

Description:

This trail is inserted in the forest perimeter of Vila do Bispo, near the beach of Castelejo, and in the Natural Park of Costa Vicentina. The pine tree predominate, but we also find other trees such as eucalyptus, acacias, and California cypress. Other points of interest are small lagoons that we find along the way, water courses that run during the wet season, flora and fauna that we interpret and discover along the way (for example, identifying traces of wild boar).

The best times of the year to plan a visit are: Spring and Autumn due to the mild climate.

Discovering Fonte Benémola

This activity begins with a visit to the Museological Pole of Water in the village of Querença, which functions as a center for interpretation of water, one of the riches of this parish. The second part consists of a pedestrian route along the Ribeira de Menalva. This river has a high flow, even in the summer months. We continue to Benémola Fountain where we will make a stop to rest and have a snack. Along the way, we will find several irrigation systems, such as water mills and sluices.

Workshop “Getting to Know the Plants Better” – Quinta do Lago

Description:

Field trip on the Quinta do Lago Trail, inserted in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, where you can observe two types of habitat: forest and marsh, and know its important function in the environment, focusing attention on some species of flora.

Workshop “Getting to Know the Plants Better” – Alvor River

Description:

Field trip on the "Sabor das Marés" trail, on the Ria de Alvor footbridge. Let's take a close look at the plants of the marsh and the dunes and realize the importance of these plant communities for the regulation of our environment.

Put Your Hands On Earth

 

Description:

This activity, held at Quinta das 6 Marias, an organic farm, will allow you to understand what organic farming is, why you plant some vegetables next to others, how to prepare the soil and also how to make nurseries. On a guided tour, we will see the fruit trees, the horticultural, the aromatic and the cultures.

Peddy Paper in Alte

Knowing a historical and cultural Algarve village is our challenge in this activity. The Peddy-paper is a test where you must follow tracks, GPS coordinates and answer questions to reach the end of the course. The first team to come is the winning team.

The course is approximately 3 km and lasts 1-2 hours.

It is necessary to bring a GPS or mobile phone with GPS application by team.
