From Lisbon you can take the bus to Zambujeira do Mar (direct) or the train to Santa-Clara/Sabóia and a private taxi to Zambujeira do Mar.

From Faro, you can take the bus to Zambujeira do Mar or a train to Lagos and a private transfer to Zambujeira do Mar.

From Zambujeira do Mar to Odeceixe

Description:

In this stage, during some parts, you will walk over the sand , which can be quite physically demanding. The views are wonderful as you pass by the beaches Alteirinhos, Carvalhal, Machados and Amália until you reach Azenha do Mar, with its natural port. When you reach Ponta Branca viewpoint, the view to Odeceixe beach is impressive and memorable.

In the end you will cross the bridge over Seixe River and enter the Algarve region.

From Odeceixe to Aljezur

Distance: 22, 5km / 13mi

Description:

In this stage you can admire the beautiful village of Odeceixe, the floodplain of the Seixe river and the outstanding beach of Odeceixe.

In this coast it is usual to find stork nests in the coastal rocks, a unique case in the world.

Continue the walk through agricultural fields and woods until you will find the moorish village of Aljezur.

From Aljezur to Arrifana

Monte Clérigo Beach

End: Arrifana

Distance: 17, 5km / 10mi

Description:

The highlights of this stage are the Monte Clérigo beach and Ponta da Atalaia, where you can find the ruins of an ancient moorish convent fort. 

Be aware of the dune vegetation where you can smell a lot of aromatic herbs such as thyme.

You will certainly find some shellfish gatherers collecting barnacles. This crustacean lives on the rocky coast where strong waves crash, that's why this is a high-risk job.

From Arrifana to Carrapateira

Distance: 20km / 12mi

Description:

Expect to find on this stage beautiful views and high cliffs, as you pass by Canal Beach. Amaze yourself with the geologic features of this region.

When you reach Bordeira Beach, you have two options. If you can’t cross the beach due to the sea conditions, take the alternative path crossing Bordalete Pine Forest and the road to Carrapateira. You will love staying in this small fisherman village.

From Carrapateira to Vila do Bispo

End: Vila do Bispo

Distance: 16km / 9mi

Total Climb: 500m

Total Descend: 420m

 

Description:

As you approach the wild beaches of this stage, you will witness some of the most amazing views of this track.

Here you will feel again the strong moorish heritage, in the ancient settlement of Ponta do Castelo. 

To get to the Pena Furada beach you will have some hard climb and descent, but it is, without doubt, worthy.

From Vila do Bispo to Sagres

End: Cape Saint Vincent

Distance: 20, 5km / 12mi

Total Climb: 150m

Total Descend: 200m

 

Description:

Now you are in the the most South-western point of continental Europe, a very unique and special place. 

Sagres has a lot of endemic species of plants and it is a very important place to many species of birds, during the anual migration. For all these reasons, Sagres is considered a Biogenetic Reserve.

Telheiro beach is one of the highlights of this place and a very important geologic monument.

The end is in the Cape Saint Vincent, a place related to the legend that gave the name to this coast.
